What is Memphis like?

My personal opinion is that you should really reconsider. The heat in the summer is brutal. I grew up in Memphis and although they have a few positives such as Beale street downtown with some awesome night clubs, the risk just isn't worth it. The crime rate is horrible. Murder, , and theft run rampant in Memphis. It's the reason I moved away, and I wouldn't even go back for a visit. Please do some research before going and at least find out what parts of Memphis to avoid. Good Luck!
