Should I buy a Canon A650 IS?

I already have a Canon A620 that is two years old. It still takes pictures fine but the lens cover apparatus is broken and there are lots of cracks in the plastic casing because it fell off of a faulty tripod a year ago. I really want the new A650-IS but I'm not sure if it's worth the $286 when my old camera still works reasonably well despite the damage from getting dropped.
