Update.. girlfriend hit me..i went to jail. help?

I asked a question about when to cut my ties to the girl whos been nothing but trouble for me for a long time now..heres the update, I went to her house after work and i confronted her about her sending my friend texts asking him to send her s.. she flipped and staring calling me all sorts of profanities, saying its my fault she did that because she was mad at me, eventually she started throwing swings at me and scratched me up pretty bad, I bear hugged her to get her to stop and she wouldnt calm down, she was doing this in front of our baby, while she was hitting me i threw her phone at the wall, in anger, I realized the situation was getting bad, so i called the police and went outside to wait for them, they showed up and sent ME to jail for destruction of a communication device and domestic violence in front of a child, she said that i held her down and she fought me off which is why i have marks, SHE HAS NO MARKS, the policeman said, that shes a female with a baby and im a guy, so of course they're sending me to jail, I spent the night in jail and my dad paid half my bail, i payed the other half, now im broke and cant pay rent.. It feels like the more im around her the worse things get for me, should i leave town, avoid her, and just pay child support or what?
