Are atheist correct, about evolution?

I've been raised on believing in God, but due to the nature of studying and comparing scriptures with life, it seems that I come to find out that atheist do have a point. Believing in nothing but self and how to improve oneself seems most important. Why try to worship something that you know nothing about and have a dilluted perception of.
