Did Chuck Lorre create the monster inside who we now know as Charlie Sheen?

Did Chuck Lorre create the mega arrogant monster who was once a human being named Charlie Sheen. Did the enormous success of 2 and a half men twist Mr. Sheen's thoughts into his self inflicted delusions of god-like grandeur? Seriously, if it wasn't for the success of that show, he would be gutter trash by now.
